2010 Audi A3, A4, and TT to Lose 3.2 V6 - Car News

In a move to repositioning its lineup and better differentiate regular models from higher-performance S versions, Audi confirms it will drop both 3.2-liter V-6 engines from the 2010 A3, A4, and TT in the U.S.

For the A4, only about 10 percent of which are optioned with the 265-hp, 90-degree V-6, Audi reasons that the elimination of the naturally aspirated powerplant in the standard car will actually boost the six-cylinder take rate by increasing sales of the new 2010 S4, which arrives later this year with a 333-hp, supercharged, 3.0-liter V-6. Although this strategy seems risky, in that offering the entry-luxury A4 with only the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder might turn off some potential buyers, it further distinguishes the S4 as the upscale variant with more power and available content.
